The following downloadable packet allows student to recap key techniques and diction used in informational/expository writing.
Student will embark on topics that prep them to better select a topic, locate and evaluate sources, craft a thesis statement, and incorporate organizational methods to showcase the summation of the writer's research and ideas.

Writing Introductions
Further clarification on starting the introduction with a "general idea:"
- Review the given prompt and determine what kind of topics it covers
- After listing all the possible topics the prompt review, select one topic idea
- Brainstorm information you could share regarding the selected topic
- Assess how this information can tie in and lead to your thesis statement (the one sentence which directly answers the prompt and includes the three points you plan to discuss in your response)
Example of an Introduction
Writing Conclusions
Further clarification on ending the conclusion with a "general idea:"
- Briefly summarize the information you've presented in your three body paragraphs
- After reviewing all the points you discussed, refer back to the one topic idea used in the introduction
- Brainstorm new information you could share regarding the selected topic
- Leave your reader with thoughts that reflect deeper knowledge and analysis regarding your topic
