Language Arts explores the human experience through timeless and universal stories. Together, we will uncover and study meaningful plots and their characters through discussion (listening, thinking, and speaking), reading, and writing to better understand the momentous snapshots writers have captured about the world around us and beyond. Students are encouraged to set ambitious, yet achievable goals to reach or exceed the mastery skills in this class.

Classroom Rules:
Arrive prepared: bring all materials to class
Work productively: show effort and unlock your full potential
Demonstrate integrity: act civil towards one another and offer respect
Challenge yourself: think with open-mindedness and empathy
Value achievement: submit quality work on time or ahead of due dates
Grading:
* Participation Points & Discussion
* Various Compositions
* Notebook/Binder Checks
* Projects
* Presentations
* Exams
*After converting points into percentages, the school grading scale will be followed*
Missed Assignments:
Students are responsible for all work missed due to absences or early dismissal. If work is late, students have three days to submit the assignment before it becomes a zero. However, due to extenuating circumstances, students may consult with the teacher for a potential extension. Help will always be given to students, and they are welcome to meet with the teacher during the student support period to receive that assistance on class work.
Classroom Behavior Contract:
Everyone deserves an education. To make that possible, each student needs to practice mindfulness and accountability of their actions. All the tools to succeed are offered to everyone; nevertheless, a student’s success and growth in any class is ultimately their responsibility. Give yourselves and your fellow classmates the greatest chance to absorb and master the classroom content.
